Farewell to Sibipiruna tree

Waking up, especially on weekends, when the noise was reduced, was wonderful! I used to get a few minutes listening to the birds - dozens of them - singing and interacting in that huge sibipiruna. Its imposing beauty in its more than 20 meters high, strong branches, dark green leaves, attracted many types of birds: parakeets, coleiros, tanagers, oranges, bentevis ... everyone had a good branch on that giant "green community" to land and singing lustily!

I used to say that the neighbors were angry because the parakeets seemed discuss among themselves. There was always few of them chirping, as they were complaining about something. But overall, they sang, talked and celebrated, probably their beautiful house!

Month after month I registered the changes in our dear sibipiruna, admiring its imposing beauty and imagining all the things witnessed in its mute contemplation. There were more than 100 years of existence. The Belenzinho has 124 years.

But the farewell time has come: last week (June 26 to July 2, 2016)  the men of pruning and tree removal industry, began to cut the branches. It took 6 days to cut down the tree. Just then we heard the "disease" of sibipiruna, and the risk that its gigantic size accounted for the site. During the week we witnessed it´s end, many of us with tears, the overthrow of the best neighborhood being. Better, yes, because as humans we all have faults, unlike trees that make your silent and effective work without a complaint.

All we got is to say goodbye and thanks for many years of good free work. I can´t stop thinking that if we, humans beings, had paid more attention to it, if we had asked for help to a professional.. anyway.. maybe the sibipiruna would not got so sick. We only admired and rely on it as if it were eternal.

Goodbye dear tree .. eternal gratitude for your existence! its absence reveals terraced houses, ugly and sad .. and a hole that looks like an open wound on the sidewalk.
